In order to make your experience as smooth and hassle-free as possible, we have provided a few tips to help make sure that your system is ready for MasterControl.

Check your minimum requirements
Follow these steps to check minimum requirements to make sure that MasterControl runs smoothly on your machine.
Access Properties by one of these methods:
Click the Start icon > Computer > System Properties
OR
For Windows 8 or later, click This PC > Properties
Verify that your machine meets these minimum requirements:
Windows 7 or higher
1.6GHz (or faster) processor
1 GB RAM
500 MB free hard drive space
Check your Java version for compatibility with RouteBuilder and Organizers
Follow these steps to make sure you are running Java 1.7.55 or later (or 1.8.45 or later - only required for users creating/editing routes or Organizers), and to check your temporary file settings:
Access Control Panel > Programs.
Click the Java icon to open the Java Control Panel.
On the General tab click the About... button and verify that you are running Java 1.7.55 (or 1.8.45).
On the General tab, in the Temporary Internet Files section, select the Settings... button, and make sure that the checkbox for Keep temporary files on my computer is unchecked.
For all browsers, add the URL to MasterControl as an exception to the browser's pop-up blocker. Then expand the links below to see each browser's necessary settings.
MasterControl supports Internet Explorer versions 10 and up. Make sure that Compatibility Mode is disabled.
Tabbed Browsing Settings
Select Tools > Internet Options.
For IE 10 & 11 - On the General tab, in the Tabs section, click the Tabs button.
In the Open links from other programs in: section, select A new tab in the current window.
Click OK.
To turn off Compatibility Mode
Select Tools > Compatibility View Settings.
Uncheck "Display intranet sites in Compatibility View."
Click Close.
Note: If the MasterControl URL was added to the Compatibility list, it should be removed.
To add MasterControl to your local intranet:
Select Tools > Internet Options.
Select the Security tab.
Select Local Intranet.
Click the Sites button.
Click the Advanced button.
Add the name of the MasterControl server (i.e. http://mcserver.mastercontrol.com)
To disable browser password saving functionality:
Select Internet Options.
Select Content.
Select AutoComplete Settings.
Either select Disable or click Manage Passwords and disable for MasterControl.
Open a new tab, and enter about: config into the browser address bar in order to open the configuration page.
Double-click the browser.cache.check_doc_frequency variable, set it to 1, and click OK.
Double-click the signed.applets.codebase_principal_support variable to enable it.
Open the network.automatic-ntlm-auth.trusted-uris variable, add the address of your intranet site, and click OK.
Note: You can enter multiple domains separated by commas.
If MasterControl is supposed to automatically log you in using your Windows credentials, do the following:
Open the network.negotiate-auth.trusted-uris variable, add the address of your intranet site, and click OK.
Note: You can enter multiple domains separated by commas.
Cookie Exceptions
Open the Firefox Option page.
Click the Privacy tab.
Click the Exceptions button.
Add your MasterControl Web server address to the browser's cookie exceptions.
Enable the Adobe PDF Reader
A built-in HTML5 PDF viewer was introduced with the release of version 19 of the Firefox web browser. This viewer does not support all of the JavaScript that MasterControl uses to display the previously listed features. It is recommended to disable this new viewer. Only Adobe PDF viewers are validated and fully-supported.
My Files
If you are using My Files, enable My Files by doing the following:
Create a .txt file containing the following lines:
user_pref("capability.policy.policynames","localfilelinks");
user_pref("capability.policy.localfilelinks.sites","http://<YourMCServerName>");
user_pref("capability.policy.localfilelinks.checkloaduri.enabled", "allAccess");
Save the file as user.js.
Place the file in your Firefox Profile folder (C:\Users\<USERNAME>\%APPDATA%\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<some random characters>.default\)
Disable Password Saving Functionality
To disable browser password saving functionality:
Select Options.
Select Security.
Select Disable or click Exceptions and add MasterControl.

This viewer does not support all of the JavaScript that MasterControl uses to display the previously listed features. It is recommended to disable this new viewer. Only Adobe PDF viewers are validated and fully-supported.
Selecting your PDF viewer:
Open a new tab in Chrome.
Enter chrome://plugins in the address bar.
Disable the Chrome PDF Viewer.
Enable Adobe Reader.
To disable browser password saving functionality:
Select Settings.
Select Advanced Settings.
Select Passwords and Forms.
Select Disable or select Manage Passwords and set MasterControl to Never.
Minimum Mobile system requirements:
Operating system: iOS 7.x+, Android 4.x+, Windows
A-grade or B-grade browsers recommended: Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox, Chrome, and Android Browser have been specifically tested
At least 12 Mbps connectivity speed
For Mobile PDF viewing:
Adobe Reader 11/DC
PDF Forms is only supported in Internet Explorer
For non-PDF Form users, browsers should be configured to open published files outside of the browser (in Adobe Reader)
Unless you are using PDF Forms, MasterControl recommends viewing published documents in Adobe Reader, rather than in the browser. Process PDF Forms are only supported in Internet Explorer. To configure your system for external PDF viewing, do the following:
Adobe 11 or before:
Go to Edit > Preferences > Internet.
Uncheck “Display PDF in browser”
Google Chrome:
Enter “Chrome://plugins” in the browser address bar.
Disable the Chrome PDF Viewer.
Mozilla Firefox:
Open the browser Options page.
Click the Applications tab.
In the Content Type column, find Portable Document Format (PDF).
In the Action column, select Use Adobe Reader (default).
Internet Explorer:
Go to “Manage Add-ons”.
Disable “Adobe PDF Reader”.
Make sure you are using Adobe 10.0 or higher.
Follow these steps to configure Adobe's security settings:
Open Adobe Reader.
Select Edit > Preferences.
From the Categories menu, select Security (Enhanced).
Click the Add Host button.
Add the MasterControl Server address, and click OK.
Install language support if needed
If you are viewing MasterControl in another language, follow these steps:
Open the computer's Control Panel.
Click Regional and Language Settings.
On the Language and Advanced tabs, install the languages you need.
Read a few more good-to-know items before starting up
Make sure you are using Microsoft Office 2010 or higher.
If MasterControl prompts you with a security message when you visit the site, add an exception for the security certificate as prompted by the browser.
If you get a login prompt when viewing a file, your company may be using a technology called WebDAV. To view the file follow these steps:
In the prompt, enter your network login information.
Click the checkbox to remember the credentials.
Click OK.
